June 15th, 2009 · Certificate Programs, HVAC

HVAC Online Training and Education

HVAC (heating ventilation and air condition) refers to the electrical system that controls the climate and filtration processes in a residence or workplace, and the skilled technicians who are qualified to design and construct these sophisticated systems are called HVAC technicians or specialists. The nature of the job is a highly specialized one because of the extreme complexity of these systems. A career in HVAC isn’t just about fixing a tripped A/C fuse or changing air filters. A professional will need extensive knowledge of complicated ductwork, furnace systems, piping, plumbing, electrical circuitry, and the exact placement of each part in the system so it can function efficiently. Besides technical skills, HVAC contractors also handle the application processes for any necessary building permits that may be essential for the HVAC installation. - Find Schools offering HVAC Training

HVAC Training
Technical schools and community colleges offer programs in heating, air-conditioning, and refrigeration that can range from 6 months to extensive 2 year diploma courses. Training covers not just theory and design, but also installation and repair. On completion of these programs, technicians are required to work as apprentices for up to two years. Technicians will start out with simple tasks like basic cleaning jobs and then move on to more advanced stages of training. In addition to basic HVAC expertise, background knowledge of electrical and plumbing systems can prove to be a great advantage. As more and more digital controls are being used (in air conditioners), knowledge of electronics is also an asset. .

Salary Prospects for a HVAC ProfessionalGrowth prospects for new HVAC personnel are expected to be higher than the national average for most other occupations. With the construction boom in many parts of the country and the outdating of existing HVAC systems, many new specialists will be required in order to help establish new systems. Also, the current trend towards energy efficient heating and cooling systems will mean that newer, greener systems will need to be installed. Even during a dull season for installation work, there will be always be maintenance and repair jobs. Median hourly earnings for HVAC mechanics in 2004 was $17.50, with top earners reporting earnings of $27.

    Online Fashion Design Degree

Cutting it in the Field of Fashion Design
There aren’t many careers that can stand nose to nose with the glamour and glitz of fashion design. In this bustling industry, individuals need passion, innovation, and drive. They need to have natural talent–an eye for visual balance, design, texture, and color–but that isn’t usually enough. To break into this exciting industry, individuals need to set themselves apart with something more than talent; employers seek two and four year degree holders who have a solid understanding of fashion trends, ornamentation, fabrics, and textiles. - Find Online Fashion Design Schools

Online Fashion Design Education Makes an Impression
Online degree programs in fashion design can prepare students for a career in design, fashion merchandising, and fashion marketing. These online programs help students develop sketching abilities and teach the use of vital, industry-current computer-aided design software (CAD). Programs with merchandising and marketing concentrations teach students about the business aspects of the fashion design industry, and all programs emphasize the importance of strong communication skills. Students can earn an online diploma, degree, or certificate, and in doing so, they can prepare a portfolio of design work that will help convince employers that they’ve got the fashion design mettle to hack it in this competitive industry.

Employment and Earnings Statistics for Fashion Designers
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, in May 2004, the median annual income of all fashion designers was $55,840. In the same year, there were 17,000 fashion designer positions held, and many more positions in merchandising and marketing. And while there will be employment growth in the industry, the highest demand for fashion designers will come from companies designing mass-market products for retail chains and department stores.

    Healthcare – Career Info

May 5th, 2009 · Health Care Education, Medical Schools, Nursing Schools, RN to BSN

    Healthcare & Nursing Education

Healthcare is the single largest employer in the United States, with over 13.5 million workers across 545,000 establishments. These health centers can range from smaller private clinics employing fewer than 5 people, to busy hospitals that offer numerous and varied job opportunities. Healthcare is a comprehensive term that includes physicians, nurses, dentists, and other medical practitioners, not to mention medical transcribers, medical technicians, and other administrative or support career fields. - Find Schools offering Healthcare field education.

    Healthcare Professionals: Education and Training
Physicians are responsible for diagnosing ailments and prescribing medication or other forms of treatment. They are the most educated of all healthcare professionals, and an individual considering this highly specialized field, can expect to put in many years of education; 4 years of pre-med school followed by another 4 years of medical school. Post education, they are required to complete a residency program which takes the form of on-the-job training in a hospital and can last between 3-8 years. New physicians will not directly begin private practice; rather they will have to initially work in a hospital or a large private clinic. Those intending to join the nursing profession also must complete training, but in many cases, a 2-year associates degree will suffice. Coursework typically focuses on various aspects of nursing practices, microbiology, anatomy, and physiology.

Career Prospects in the Healthcare Sector
With rapid advances in medical care and longer life expectancies, healthcare professionals (and especially physicians) can expect extremely favorable demand in the coming years. The highest pay packages are reported by anesthesiologists, whose median earnings in 2004 were $321,686. For nurses, the median earnings were $52,330, with the highest earning nurses drawing up to $74,760. As demand for more medical personnel continues to rise in the wake of retiring baby boomers, one can expect salaries to increase across the board.

    Expand your Financial World

May 1st, 2009 · Accounting & Finance Schools, Finance Schools, MBA Schools

    Finance Education

    Careers in Finance
All businesses benefit from employees skilled and educated in the field of finance. Government agencies, non-profits, even multi-billion dollar corporations rely on financial professionals for their sustained financial growth. These professionals oversee financial planning, make investments, and acquire assets. They call upon their educational background, communication, critical and creative thinking, and decision-making skills to keep their organization healthy and competitive in today’s global economy. - Find Finance Schools

Finance professionals work in a number of areas. They may seek bachelors or masters degrees to become budget analysts, money managers, underwriters, investment bankers, loan officers, or personal financial advisors. While the bachelors degree in a finance-related area is usually necessary to gain entrance to these revered career paths, a professional license or certification (Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC) or Chartered Financial Analyst (CPA)) may also be required.

    Online Degrees in Finance
When responsibilities include the managing of millions of dollars, it makes sense that financial professionals must complete significant coursework in their field. In addition to general finance studies in investments, international finance, and banking, degree candidates must often keep abreast of federal and state regulations and technological developments. Fortunately, many students take advantage of online degree programs in finance. Degrees at the bachelors, masters, and doctoral levels can be obtained with focus and efficiency due to the online format. - Find Finance Schools

    Earnings Information for Financial Careers
In 2004, financial managers earned a median annual salary of $81,880 while holding more than half a million jobs. For financial analysts and personal advisors, median annual earnings were $61,910. In addition to these impressive salaries, finance professionals should continue to enjoy strong job growth.

Graphic Design – Career & Education

April 17th, 2009 · Art Schools, Graphic Design Schools

    Online Graphic Design Schools

The basic job of a graphic designer is to convey a particular message through visual media, art, and ad copy. This message could be in the form of advertising (billboards, posters), marketing (brochures), product packaging (cartons), publishing (magazine and book covers, newspaper layouts), film and television graphics (beginning and opening credits), signs, signage systems, exhibits, interactive T.V., and computer graphics. A graphic designer has to find the best possible way of using color, lettering, images, and lightings so that a product or message stands out. In the 21st century, when individuals are bombarded with images from all corners, whether through television or the internet, finding a way to grab attention and drive home a message takes precise planning and execution. For this reason, graphic design has been identified as an extremely high growth career field, albeit a very competitive one. - Find Graphic Design Schools

    Graphic Design Education and Training
For most graphic design jobs, a 4 year college program that leads to a bachelor’s degree is required. For some beginner level technical positions, an associate degree may suffice. Bachelor of fine arts programs are offered at many colleges and universities, and the curricula usually includes things like design principles, creation of commercial graphics and techniques for computerized design, 2D art, 3d art, and web design. One might also dabble in various aspects of art history, writing techniques, psychology, and sociological sciences. Graphic designers are required to work with other creative professionals like copywriters, art directors, photographers, and web developers, and thus, people skills are also extremely important.

Graphic Design Industry: Growth and Salary Potential
The industry is expected to grow at twice the national average rate for other occupations. Newer opportunities are expected to be generated from the rapidly expanding Web market. The median income in 2004 was $38,030, with the top earning professionals making $65,940.

    Online College Directory. Huh?

    April 15th, 2009 · College Directory

    Card Catalog

There are a lot of sites out there about education. Some are helpful and some aren’t so. Here at Search4Degree.com, we have been involved with connecting prospective students with schools for almost 6 years. After being around that long, you start to notice a few things. And we did. We felt we had discovering an important piece missing. Communication. So, that’s why we have created this site. It isn’t just about getting you to fill out a form and letting you move on. Sure we like it when you do take the time to fill out a couple forms. It’s no secret. We get paid when you do. But that happens at our sister site www.e-Degrees.com. There you will find schools searchable by school name or by degree curriculum.

But back to Search4Degree.com…here we have put together pages and postings of articles about the curriculums you see when you do a search for “online degrees” or “career advancement”. As the user, you have a few options. You can either search from the categories links on the side or any of the tags listed below. Or…yes there is an or…you can hop on to our forums. Right now they are kind of new, but that doesn’t mean that no one is looking. We are pumping in the traffic. So feel free to post. Take a few minutes to read about a few of the programs you may be interested in and while your here be sure to fill out a couple of forms just because you want to be nice and of course, help yourself to advance your career.

    How it works:

      1. You will need to decide on an area of study.
      2. Perform a search for your chosen discipline.
      3. Click on the various schools to request more information. We suggest the rule of Three. That means requesting information from a minimum of three schools. Why? So you can arm yourself with information to contrast and compare a few online schools. Like any campus schools, you would probably visit more than one. Do the same for online schools – just save the gas.
