Careers in Fitness and Nutrition
A growing emphasis on physical fitness and increased concern around weight-related diseases create a greater demand for educated fitness and nutrition professionals. The American public looks to its personal fitness trainers, fitness instructors, and nutritionists to help get healthy. Outside of the private sector, schools, residential care facilities, prisons, and hospitals are beginning to utilize the services of fitness and nutrition professionals to improve the health and well-being of their populations. - Find Fitness and Nutrition Schools

Online Programs in Fitness and Nutrition
There are online degree programs at the certificate, diploma, associates, bachelors, masters, and doctoral levels in areas of fitness and nutrition. Students seeking entry-level positions as well as those looking for administrative jobs turn to online programs to meet their needs. These programs allow students to continue to work fulltime while they learn in areas like sports nutrition, stress management, and managing personal health.

Careers: Nutritionists
Most jobs require that nutritionists have (at minimum) a bachelors degree in dietetics, food service systems management, or a related area. Those holding masters degrees in diabetic or renal diets should enjoy excellent employment prospects. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, nutritionists should experience faster than average job growth. In May 2004, the median annual salary for dieticians and nutritionists was $43,630. The largest number of these professionals were employed in general medical and surgical hospitals. - Find Fitness and Nutrition Schools

Careers: Athletic/Fitness Trainers
Athletic trainers generally require at least a bachelors degree in a fitness related field to be professionally desirable. In fact, many athletic trainers return to school to earn masters in athletic training. Professionals in this field should enjoy faster than average employment growth. Median annual salaries in May 2004 were $33,940, though many of these salaried athletic trainer positions included benefit packages.
