Working in the hospitality sector requires a lot of hard work, dedication, and patience. But, the perks are plenty. There’s free or discounted food, no two working days are ever the same and, because hotels are part of the travel sector, there are endless opportunities to interact with people from all across the globe. The hospitality industry offers plenty of job opportunities for those with limited skills as well as for those with higher end managerial aspirations. A major chunk of the jobs is in the service sector. Large corporate hotel chains offer better opportunities for growth than small privately run motels. Employees are also encouraged to work in different hotels of the same chain, thereby broadening their horizons. - Find Hospitality & Tourism Schools

Hospitality Education & Training
Entry level jobs in the hospitality industry usually require very little training. Many hotels regularly conduct their own training programs for specific staff. Although some hotels may prefer to fill entry level managerial jobs with their own service or administrative employees, persons with bachelors or masters degrees in hospitality management definitely hold the competitive edge. Close to 150 universities and colleges around the country offer training in hospital management, and even more offer training in various branches of the culinary arts and restaurant management. - Find Hospitality & Tourism Schools

Growth Potential in the Hospitality Sector
With the increased trend towards hotel chains and boutique hotels that place an emphasis on personal service, the demand for professionally trained managers will continue to rise. Managers can expect to move up the corporate ladder into more advanced general managerial positions. Among the non-managerial staff, people with the highest skills like chefs have the maximum earning potential. Many times, a chef may move on to becoming food & beverage manager, start his own restaurant, or establish a culinary arts school.
